Go see Ground Zero, and when you get too depressed by it all walk down to Battery Park and gaze out at the Statue of Liberty out in the water. Everything else is fluff in my opinion....too many Americans forget what it's all about these days.

NYC is the skankiest place in the US, the only thing I like about it are the museums. The Metropolitan is my favorite. You should also go see a broadway show. Wicked is supposed to be good, so is The Producers and Phantom of the Opera. There are some fantastic restaurants, I love the Old Homestead.

Honestly there are so many things to do that are great that I couldn't list them all here. But the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building are good places to go.

Only a weekend! Its impossible to get in everything but here are a few ideas of places to check out depending on what you like:
The Met - art museum
Statue of Liberty
Ellis Island (cool if you are into history and/or have ancestors who passed through)
Ground Zero
Shop, Shop, Shop
Little Italy (yummy pastries!)
Chinatown mm mm mm cat is good, I swear
Cross the river and go barhopping in Hoboken, NJ
