just wanted to know. since horror movies are one of my favorites, i just wanted to know who started making them and where did it come from.

"The horror genre is nearly as old as film itself. The first depictions of supernatural events appear in several of the silent shorts created by film pioneers such as Georges Méliès in the late 1890s, the most notable being his 1896 Le Manoir du Diable (aka "The Devil's Castle") which is sometimes credited as being the first horror film. Another of his horror projects was the 1898 La Caverne maudite (aka "The Cave of the Demons")."

My friend is like that.Even if she watches a black comedy,scary movie for exampIe she will get scared.I think that some people are more scared than others and are deeply affected by horror movies.They can't bear the emotion of fear.Most horror fans prefer to watch movies that produce fear,but those who don't like horror movies are totally the opposite.

Horror films date back to the late 1890s, but it wasn't until the German Expressionist movement that the first horror masterpieces were made, such as The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, and my personal favorite horror film, F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu.

Alfred Hitchcock was not the first with Psycho but many of today's horror flicks were able to get made because of his ground breaking work. basically it was the first mainstream blockbuster in the genre and he had to really work the censors to even get it made. the censors even objected to him showing a toilet in the bathroom. how weird is that when you consider the full shower scene...

I'm not sure who started MAKING them, but Bela Lugosi was one of the first serious actors in the genre.
