Taking the pill will help regulate your period and help lower the risk of cancer to the uterus/ovaries. I know of one common condition that you may want to check with your doctor. It's called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Basically, this is a condition in which cysts in the ovary interfere with normal ovulation and menstruation.

Are you very thin or do you exercise or play sports a lot? Those are a couple of reasons girls stop their periods. I would trust my doctor. If you don't, find a new doctor.
