tropical lady, we and our neighbors are not racists, bigots and all you stereotype us to be. This is about one family trashing thier residence and all around them fithy graffiti, loud music all nite burglary and theft! We are a neighborhood of mostly retired military and have pride in our property etc. Oh, and we are all colors and races and have had no problem 'till this. Weve diplomaticly contacted the home owner, housing authority and cps. They all were a waste of time. We also have quite a few school teachers and two preachers involved. So don't assume what you do and send useful advice, no holier than thou stuff!!!!!!!!

Join your neighborhood association or form it yourself. Document your complaints--but not just you, be sure several people are complaining. Keep written records of time and place and the objectionable activity. make double copies and send them to your local council or city government, and to the housing authority. Get to know your local Community Relations Officer (local police). Visit the county courthouse to find out who the real owner is (not the manager); don't harass the owner, but you might send them courtesy notices. The owner gets a benefit of steady occupancy in a building that may have fallen into temporary occupancy. They are obliged to keep the place clean--not sparkliing, but not hazardous either. The section eight residents may have fallen into hard times; they are not usually a problem. Some however are living culture clashes--late night and weekend noise, haphazard parking etc. The manager has persuasive influence on the tenant because at any time he can call the housing authority and have the tenant removed. If nothing has happened in a year, take all your information to the local paper. In the mean time, remember that your property values are not more important than my rights.

New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachussetts, the District of Columbia, and the city of Chicago , under the National Housing Law Project, prohibit discrimination against Section 8 voucher participants.

If you do not live in any of these places, you would have to find out what your local and state laws say on the matter.

Although I understand your concern, I would like you to know that not all people who rent under Section 8 are lowlifes, deadbeats, and former criminals. That is a stereotype. Some people are just decent, hard-working human beings who fall in hard times for whatever horrible circumstances, and who are trying to get back on their feet and become prosperous again.

I have never been in this situation, but I do know people who have, and they are good people. I understand that we fear what we do not know, and when we see new neighbors who are from a different country and/or race, we tend to get nervous. I would respectfully suggest that you try to get to know these people before you complain formally. Who knows what their story is. You could be causing great heartbreak to innocent people.

Remember that people who apply to be in the program, tenants and landlords both, are investigated by the federal government before they are approved.

I do hope you find a solution to your concern. Peace, and God bless you.

it truly is. each and every shopper I even have who primary section 8 mentioned "under no circumstances back." The residences are taken care of very poorly and the expectancies from the government is that the owner is in charge for repairing any harm led to by making use of the Tenants. it truly is uncomplicated for a materials to be gutted and destroyed while the tenant leaves. the concern lies in duty. truly than carry the recipient culpable, they carry the owner.
