Storms in Florida are a daily occurance. They can pop up quickly and disapate quickly too. No hurricane's in site. Check the weather channel for updated informtion or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association. They will have the current weather maps and hurricane/tropical storm warnings.

Orlando gets more cloud to ground lightning than just about anywhere in the world. That said, Orlando gets very few severe thunderstorms as defined my the National Weather Service.

As of 6/22, I was not aware of any tropical activity.

While this might sound quaint, I suggest checking the Weather Channel.

There's no hurricanes by Florida now, and there never will be any by Orlando. It's inland. No severe thunderstorms tomorrow.

Your best bet is to check out one of our local news stations' web sites, such as wftv.com. You should know that they are forecasting heavy rain this weekend from a tropical "disturbance" near the Bahamas. There's always a good chance of thunder and lightning in Florida in summer; we're the lightning capital of the country! But there are hurricanes or tropical storms predicted in the near future.

Right now I still think Alberto is hanging around. Thunderstorms can be very sudden, but right now I think it's ok to go there. It rains every night, so bring am umbrella.

There's not one now but whenever you go to FL you want to keep an eye out on the weather and if there's an evacuation most places have a policy for reimbursement or refund if you have to cut your trip short or can't go at all.
