R& B is the basis & genesis of rock & roll as well as hip-hop, however, R&B is usually sung while hip-hop's origins began in the early 70's where DJ's would dub (rap) over song lyrics. the origins of hip-hop have Afro-Carribean roots whereas R& B's roots began with the blues of the early twenties that evolved to be-bop then doo-wop, then rock & roll to what we have today.

R&B is called "rythem and blues"..Slower paced and the type of music you make love to, or sway on the dance floor. Hip Hop is faster paced music where there is a whole lotta movement on the dance floor, but would be music geared more for rabbits in the bedroom

One is whining to music about cheating or being cheated on, and the other is yelling about cheating, money, drugs, and crews to beats. Of course there is some rap and R&B with positive messages, sadly, too few.

rnb is usually about love or heartbreak. hip hop is usually about sex. personally i love them both. lol. but rnb has to be my fav.....
