This may defeat your purpose, but I spent a lot of years looking for the place that I am in right now, and I will never leave here again. I am high in the mountains, surrounded by cattle ranches, wild horses, and other wildlife of all types and sizes. The people are open and friendly, their values match mine (which is always nice), and daily life is lived with common sense and common courtesy as just a basic, accepted mode of operation. The money is good, the land is cheap, and the closest "city" is only 9,000 people, 65 miles away. My life is incredibly good, right here, and that is the "why" of it.

Home, in Boulder Creek, California. Instead I am at school in Capitola, California. That's two long bus rides away from home. It's tiresome to leave at 6:30 every morning to get to school by 9:00! (Well, OK, I stop off at Burger King and have breakfast, but still.)
Bus riders have to schedule lots of extra time.

This probably isn't the answer you're looking for but I'm happy where I am at the moment, because I'm enjoying life and happy with how I'm leading my life over all. Hope this answer isn't a buzz kill.I'm not trying to make a point. It just happens to be true.

At the beach, drinking a piña colada.
Because I know of no better way to find peace and comfort. Right now i am breaking my own stress limits resistance records.

Fishing in Boothbay harbor enjoying the sweet ocean breeze. Because its dang hot right here and I love to fish.

I'd be on the beach, back home in Greece, with my two dogs and a cold beer enjoying the sunset.Why? If you've ever been to Greece you'll understand... it's magic.

I would be in Rome, Italy standing in the Colussium and imaging what it must have been like to be a Roman Goddess, as I would have loved being in that era.
