I ask this because of the drugs used to control everything and the "conditioning" used to "teach" kids and so on. Why are we trying to control everything so much and are we the cause of a lot of problems in humans...are we trying to control nature too much?

Utopia.. Brave New World jeez I read it back in 1972 I found it scary then & down right Prophetic now.
Some people beleive they know what is best for ALL of us. Sad part is they want to make laws so their way is the only 1 allowed. No Freedom to be different.
I find the drugging of children horrifing in part because they are removing a chunk of them that is the Creative Mind. With it goes the great Thinkers:Scienctist, Artists, Inventors, etc of our future.
Look back on some of the great minds of the past.... Who do you think would have been drugged to obilivion, losing that spark that changed so much with their contributions? Why? Because they were not like everyone else.

The drugs aren't used in an organized fashion - besides, soma is more of a temporary opiate, something to keep the Epsilons from getting upset over being forcibly hindered.

The "conditioning" is a necessary part of any culture. We develop too rapidly into biological adults who need the knowledge, so it makes no sense to give a "freely explore" option.

This question is being asked by someone who asked if the press had too much freedom. I don't think you read the book or if you did, I don't think you really understood it.
