Nah, I like nerds. *grin* At least in the Alpha Quadrant, I think only the Romulans and Klingons have cloaking technology (okay, probably the Ferengi, too, but only because they bought it from someone who actually invented it) And I suppose, technically, the Federation also has it, illegally (violation of the Kittimer Accord, I think...) I seem to remember an episode of DS-9 when they showed some funky ship with phase-shifting, so not only did it become invisible, it could pass through objects...
In any case, up until the Borg actually entered the Alpha Quadrant, they may or may not have encountered a species with cloaking technology (who knows who else has it?) So up until the 5th season of Next-Gen (I believe that's when Locutis was introduced, when Picard was taken), they might not have had exposure to the technology, and would not have incorporated it yet.
The other side of the answer is that the Borg wouldn't necessarily see a need for cloaking technology; it's not their MO to sneak anywhere, but rather by simply overwhelming the defenses and infiltrating new victims. Only if an opponent looked like they were going to defeat the Borg might they resort to cloaks to get away or turn the tables.

LOL :)
I liked Star Trek, but don't consider myself a Star Trek Nerd.
I'll still try an answer though.
I believe that their mentality is that they are one single entity and that every other entity is not really a separate entity, but instead they are a potential borg.
Since they run from a machine sort of logic, I think that they choose what they consider to be the best option in what they do whenever they encounter a new technology.
It may be that they have it, but so far without using it, they have been successful and thus they have no need to adapt to the technology of cloaking.
You saw in one episode ( and no, this still means that I'm not a geek) that they adapted their shield technology to the weaponry used. I think that they would do the same thing with cloaking if they needed it, but they haven't really needed it.
Hope that this helps.

They have self-healing ships (nano-bot technology) and phase shifting shielding. Why need a cloaking device if your ship can't be seriously damaged. They are also so stuck on themselves that they fear no one.
It could also be argued that since the Romulans had the technology originally, then they made a deal with the Klingons to share the technology so they could defeat the Federation. So until the Borg assimilated a Romulan or Klingon ship and downloaded their technology, they would not have access to it. They do not build anything on their own, all of their technology was assimilated (stolen) from other races.

Borgs have huge ships - known cloaking technology (in Star Trek world) is still very power-hungry and not very effective. Borg don't need cloaking.

The Borgs aren't so tough, there's just a shitload of them. One time, Voyager took out like 1000 Cubes and Spheres while passing through the Delta Quadrant. (I only know this because I was watching Spandex Woman sauntering around trying to breathe.)

Power don't have anything to do with technology. You're reaching conclusions based on something totally irrevelant.

"we are the borg. you will be assimilated. resistance is futile."
they don't need it. they're so powerful that it doesn't matter if somebody sees them, they'll just board the ship and make more borg.
i'm such a nerd. i love it :]]]].

They don't need it, they assimilate, and they are pretty much more powerful than anything out there. The good guys have been lucky.
