What good reason do you have for wanting to move to London?I lived there in my youth, and was only too glad when I had the chance to move out, and I have never looked back, after 50 years ! If you are a " little" unsure, you are not at all sure.

depends. where are you coming from? actually i think you are quite mad, it's extremely expensive (one of, if not THE most expensive city in the world). public transport sucks big time, it's the most expensive in Europe but it's also the worst as well. sever delays everywhere. not much fresh air either.
I'd rather be somewhere near the coast...

TRANSPORT
remember, traveling to work in rush hour IS NOT that same as travelling to go see a movie..
my gf moved to London from the south coast of England 6 months ago (before that, from poland) after falling in love with the city. i warned her... she makes barely enuf money to pay her rent and food, I'm in the same boat (and I've been here all my life)...
she asked me 7 months ago (whilst here for 3 days holiday) "why do people look so miserable on the tube?" to which i replied "it's called 'the tube face' you'll find out when you move to London"
my gf now complains about the public transport everyday.. she "blesses" buses that don't stop when requested, curses trains that are constantly late. SHE IS NOW A TRUE LONDONER!
night time travel is the worst tho.. my gf finishes work at 2am, if she took public transport home, it would take her around 3 hours to get home (has to take 4 buses!) she only works 10miles away! only 25min by car!
she get paid £50 a day but it would cost her around £20-£25 for a taxi...
N.B pick a random station (try the central line) and try to get there using the tube at rush hour (between 8am-10am and 4pm-6pm)
if you can handle that everyday (5-6days a week) then... SURE move to london!

RENT
first of all.. renting in london is not cheap... IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE THEN IT IS.

rent for a single person (at decent digs) can be between £80-£150 per week depending on location, my gf is paying £100 for a room..
my friends are paying anything from £80 (single room) to £150 (double room). (majority of) rent prices are all based on a single person. if you want your partner (or a friend) to live with you, landlords would ask for more money for rent...
before you can move in (if you go tru a property agent you need to provide references, bank statements and proof of employment)
you will need to pay (usually) the deposit and a months rent in advance. (basically two months up front)
rent would take away around 1/3 to 1/2 of your pay (unless you make sh!tloads of money, sadly tho, for the average londoner, we only make J U S T enuf)
VERY PRICEY, LONDON...

so guvna, you gonna gisa try den?

did i put you off? i haven't even started about eating out n clubbing yet....

do some research first.. unless what you haven't told us is that you're a multimillionaire and money is no object...

Move there for a bit, but set yourself a time limit, say 4 or 5 years. That way you'l get the most out of it while you're there, but you'll always know that you're going to escape one day!!

live bt the coast and get lots of fresh air instead of coughing and showering the grime off everynight! so expensive there even compared to geneva or vienna.
