Run a lot; I assume your school year starts in September? You have two or three months to just jog a lot to build up your aerobic endurance. Each time you run, try to work on increasing your speed through sprints, slowing to a jog when you have to (or a fast walk if you must... just don't stop moving), and you'll gradually see your average speed come up. A mile is a long enough distance that someone who hasn't worked on their running regularly won't be able to just push through it; you have to be at a certain level of fitness to run over a jog for more than a few minutes without burning out completely (obviously, at the opposite end of the spectrum are Olympic distance runners whose "jog" averages a six-minute mile, a goal I, unfortunately, will never, ever reach without lots of illegal steroids, the pursuit of a pack of rabid dogs as motivation, or an internal combustion engine)

It's all in the training. You have to build up your stamina to run at top speed for a mile. start running 3-4 miles a day. Try to improve your time every other day when doing your training runs. Times vary for people, but after you can run 3-4 miles comfortably without struggling to keep your pace up, run a mile as fast as you can and see what your lap times are. I'm assuming you are in highschool, so running a 6 minute mile for 3-4 miles is a good pace.
