when you bite it, it swells, making it more prone to biting again, and then you bite it again and it swells more, so you bite it AGAIN...eventually you either become more aware of it and make a conscious effort not to bite it, or you just bite that whole little spot off

The inside of your cheek is usually smooth and takes some effort or a freak accident to bite into it. However, once you have bitten it, the area becomes swollen and uneven which makes it easier to bite. Also, when you bite your cheek you bite it is usually in a place where your teeth often bite down, making it more likely that you will bite it over and over again.

Dayna's answer was exactly correct. It's due to swelling. However, there is something you can do about it. Before you eat; Drink something poured over ice, take a small piece of the ice into your mouth and hold it against the sore spot for about two minutes. The ice will reduce the swelling and make your cheek less likely to be re-injured. Repeat this process every few minutes during your meal , but you should only have to do it for about 30 to 40 seconds each time you repeat.

After the first bite, your mouth would be irritated, and since your jaws close almost the same way every time, you would hit the same spot again, making it hurt even more!

Ususally biting the inside of your cheek is a sign of a problem with a tooth on that side. (so the dentist says) I say its just nerves.

My boyfriend does that! Usually in his sleep. But me; I have a habit of pouring liquid sraight into my lung, then I proceed to cough the lung up. I do this about every other day. And I am infamous for bumping my head. If there is no place to bump my head, I will find one. Good luck with your problem.
