i am not above flirting but showing skin to get tips is a little rediculous. you can make good money just by being friendly and efficient with your tables.

I have been a waiter all my life. If you are working in a cocktail lounge or club, yes it is possible, but if you are generally fun and have a great personality, it doesn't make that much difference. You can have the biggest boobs in the world and have a sucky personality and provide crap service. If you are working in a fine dining establishment, knowledge and proffesionalism are key. Ladies do not want to feel as if they are competing with the server for attention. Women should always be addressed first and treated respectfully. If a gentlemans date, wife or clients are impressed, you will make a good tip. Remember it often times is the woman picking up the tab.You can find a clients name on the credit card, address them by saying thank you Mr. or Ms. so and so in front of their guests, it makes them feel important.

i have to agree with almost everyone here. if you show cleavage to a family, down goes the tip. if you show a little bit and flirt subtly with a table of guys, up goes the tip. it's really all about the place you work at and the customers you are serving. the most important thing is good service...bottom line. if i were a male, i couldn't care less how much cleavage i saw if i never got a refill. you go out to eat TO EAT! you go to a strip club to see boobs.

More cleavage garners tips? It's possible.
Once me and a friend went to this restaurant, that seems to be very big on alcoholic beverages. We ordered just soda or coffee, and because of that our server all but ignored us. Her thinking being that since we didn't order any alcoholic drinks to heck with them. In her mind no alcoholic drinks = a lousy tip. That's a pretty narrow minded point of view, because she doesn't know what we'd tip if given the chance. But due to her lack of professionalism, she was given a tiny pittance. Sadly, this kind of behavior in some restaurant establishments seems to be the norm.

Yes! I serve part time and it definitely makes a difference to show a little cleavage. I don't mean look slutty.... just a little peek to flirt with their imagination. Verbal flirting is tacky but a smile or a look can leave them curious for more. They'll hang around longer or come back often and tip well for the "good feeling" they get from your service.

It depends on what type of restaurant you are working in. If you work in a dinner on Friday and Saturday night after last call, then yes the way you look will effect your tip.
If you work in a 4 star place where people are apt to be more considerate than it is the service that counts.

It depends on the establishment. In higher class joints or family restaurants, you will actually lose tips dressing slutty. Of course if you work at a sports bar, Hooters, or a strip club then being nice doesn't even matter so long as you are falling out of your clothes.

Of course it does, at least for the guys. :-)
Always has and always will.
Now, the tip you get from the women will probably depend more
on the service and your personality than on your cleavage and
flirtiness.

Depends on the clientele. Perhaps older, rich men as customers might tip more, but I'm pretty sure straight, young women at poverty level will tip less.

it depends...personally, for me, no. I tip according to service. Was my food hot when I received it? Did I have to keep asking for water or refills?, etc. Your question sounds like one for the Hooters girls...love the food but hate flirting waiteress'.
