My twins have them too...one on the lower back and the other has one on her shoulder and her lower back...they usually go away whithin a few yrs. or at least fade but my pediatrician said they can have them for the rest of their life....they worry me because i dont want ppl to think i beat them or something lol have your doctor make a note in their records that they have a spot so if something like that ever happens u can prove that its not a terrible bruise..just a birthmark

My daughter just turned 5, and hers had started to fade in the couple of months previous to her birthday. My 7 yr old son has never lost his...I affectionately call him "green butt" as his spot is more of a greenish-blue color. The pediatrician said that it too will eventually fade and disappear, they always do. It is nothing to be concerned with. If it doesnt fade on your son, it may be a different kind of birthmark than a mongolian spot. Wait it out until he is at least 5 and see what happens.

All of my children had these however though I have seen large ones none of them had large ones just little small ones!
They are supposed to fade by the age of two or something like that. However though I must admit I do not usually look at my six year olds bottom anymore last time I looked she still had it and so did my five year old. Though both of theirs are faded and barely noticeable. I wouldn't worry about it!

My daughter has one on the small of her back. It is quite large and is shaped like a butterfly. I talked to my doctor when I noticed it after she was born. He said that it is like a birth mark. She is almost 4 and it has not faded. Birth marks stay for life, it is part of your child. Plus if it is on his butt then who will see it? Don't worry about it just look at it as part of you or the father. I tease my husband that now my daughter never needs a tattoo she already has one, or when she is old enough we will get the butterfly outlined. Have fun with it, it is not a deformity or anything horrible.

There is no need to see a doctor about this. Some fade. My son has one over his eye that can only be seen when he is upset, then it turns red and purple.

My children are also biracial and they both had them. They did go away when they were 4 or 5, but I know of people that still have them.
