I have heard that there are a lot of people that will not use Gmail and they have different reasons why. I was wondering, what are some of the reason's that you wouldn't use Gmail? And if you do use Gmail what are the reasons why you do?

Gmail scans your computer, due to its algorythms. They ask first, but in order to run Gmail - you have to allow them to scan - for behavioral activity and spam reduction.

Some folks are ok with it - others feel its a "violation" of their privacy - but again - they ask first - you get to decide. Considering the amswers here - I wonder if anyone knew that when they got an account...

I switched over to SBC\AT&T Yahoo! DSL, that is why I don't use Gmail anymore. I don't find anything wrong with it. It allows you to archive your mail so that you don't delete it and are able to get your mail back. It also allows you to save files on Gmail, but only a certain max space; however, the max space for your e-mail increases every second of the day, so, technically, there is no max amount of space. Also, it is easy to save detailed information about your contacts in your Gmail Address Book, and you can even put your contacts into groups incase you want to send an e-mail to a specific number of people. These are some of the nice things about Gmail.

lets see you chat in your yahoo inbox :)

in gmail it is way easier to keep up with a conversation between two people. they stack the conversations all together into one. you just click on different parts to see what you said on a previous day or whatever.

there is no way yahoo can do that

another thing. if you download some software you can use your gmail account as a 3gb network drive. another program alerts you when you get email. and more are being developed everyday.

you can easily use outlook express to read your gmail.

I have both Yahoo and Gmail, and I actually use the gmail more. I like the interface, and the way they group conversations together-even from multiple parties. I like yahoo for the communities- Fanasy Football, Answers, News, 360, games, stuff like that.

Hi,
I am Using Gmail but what I don't like about gmail is
1) You can't sort by sender or other fields.
2) No folders
3) When you create filter rules it is only for future emails, you can't run it on existing emails.

I personally love Gmail. It has massive amounts of storage, I don't get spam (like I do in Yahoo!), it sends my attachments faster, and it's easy to navigate. I also like how it puts all my e-mails in a conversation-like set-up.

To each his own I guess. I have found gmail to be much easier to use and the web interface is way better. But, like I said, to each his own.

I like the search and huge amount of free storage, when Gmail was released, 1GB of free storage was unheard of... then they increased it to 2GB and it is still rising.
