My son is also 8 months old, and he doesn't have any teeth either, but he loves to chew on just about everything. I give him like a teething biscuit, when he is cutting teeth, and he goes to town on them. He recenly discovered pizza crust which is helping his bottom two front ones finally come in, but he has been teething for almost 5 months now, and his doctor said it is nothing to be worried about, the longer it takes for his teeth to come in, the less risk he has for decay, and other oral problems. Just have some patience they will come when their ready to.

Has he seen his pediatrician lately? Some kids get teeth later than others. My daughter had teeth by 4 months old and my first son was about 8 or 9 months old I think. Each kid is different. If he is healthy otherwise, it should be ok. Also if you are really worried, ask pediatrician for referral to pediatric dentist. Rickets is kind of rare in this day and age especially if pediatrician has him on those vitamin drops.

I have an 8 month old too. She drools all of the time, and has for several months, but still no sign of teeth yet. The doctor told my wife that the longer it takes for the teeth to come in, the stronger they may be. But I too have read things that say if it takes longer than 8 months for the teeth to come in, it could be bad news. The best thing would be to ask your doctor.

I guess I had the opposite of rickets because when I was about 3 or 4 my front teeth rotted out. They were called "milk" teeth. I'm good know though, I have strong healthy teeth!

that's perfectly normal. In fact, I've been told that the later a child gets their teeth, the healthier their teeth will be. I got my teeth late and haven't had the first cavity at all, kids develop at their own rates and it is not normal or unhealthy for your baby to not have teeth yet. The child two weeks older than my son didn't get his first tooth until he was over 10 months old.

I heard that the later they get their teeth the better. My sis has three kids and all of them got their teeth after 13 months. They are healthy and fine. The less time those baby teeth are in their mouth when it's hard to clean them (most babies don't hold still to do a good job every day) the less cavaties they will have.

My niece just got her first teeth last month, and she's fifteen months old and healthy as a horse. Eight months is actually a little early for children to get teeth. The norm is at one year, when they are supposed to start taking solid foods.

Also, it varies from child to child. Each child is very different and their growth patterns are unique. I wouldn't be too worried, but if your mind can't be alleviated any other way, I'd speak with your child's pediatrician.

Don't stress over it, there are many children who don't always have teeth by 8 months, my daughter has a mouthful of teeth now that she is two yrs old. but her first tooth didn't come in until she was 8 months. And my niece was 16 months old when her first tooth came in and hse is fine and perfictly healthy. Every child develops differently... let your child grow at his/her own pace and understand your child is unique, thats the one thing every person has in common - everyone is unique in their own special way!

Babies who cut teeth late in life keep their teeth longer than babies who cut them early. Dont worry - its a good thing. He wont need a Chopper Hopper by the time he is 50.

My friend's little girl didn't get teeth until after her first birthday, and she's fine. Some teeth just take longer.
