To answer Biblically:
Spirit (capital -S-) is the Holy Spirit
You are a triune being: spirit, soul and body.
Both your spirit and soul are invisible and are the real you, who you are.
Your body is like the house or tent, so to speak, where your spirit and soul dwell and also where the Holy Spirit can dwell as well as unclean, evil spirits.
Your spirit is the part of you that is made of the same substance, so to speak as the Holy Spirit. But take that with a grain of salt. This is the part of you that can commune with YAHUVAH (God the Father), YAHSHUA (God the Son) and the Holy Spirit.
Your soul is made up of your mind, will and emotions. Its what makes you you and unique from everyone.

Soul allows you to high five a brother, spirit allows you to cheerlead at football games.
Seriously, though, the biblical answer is a good one as far as it goes, since it provide a context for the meanings it provides. People often denegrate discussions of such differences as mere semantics. However, semantics is the science of precise communication and is very important. Words lack intrisic meaning. We assign them meanings. In daily conversation we use them loosely, and soul and spirit are often interchanged. In a philisophical discussion, you need to define the parameters and state how you intend to use the words.
In my mind ( I was raised in Judaism and practice Nichiren Buddhism) "Spirit" is my intentionality, who I try to be each day. "Soul" is my actuality, who I am each day. I know my body will cease to exist at some point. I know the energy that animates my body will not cease to exist, but beyond that, I don't think considerations of the mind/body duality are very useful.

nothing.
though i suppose spirits can be from other planes of existance and may not have ever necessarily been from humans or 'beings'.
So I guess the difference may be that souls are from sentient beings while spirits may not necessarily be. Though a soul can be a spirit.
or Spirits can be something you drink while sould can be something you do or don't have as far as rythmic abilities!!

Spirit (general) is a substance. Its essential qualities are:
1. no size,
2. consciousness.
* "Substance" being that in which quality inheres.
A soul (particular) is of spiritual substance and functions as the center of awareness for an individual person.
The soul is an individuated spirit.
Spirit may be eternal (God is a spirit)
Spirit may be created (individual souls)
The common factor is that both God (spirit) and created souls (spirit) are persons.

A soul is the connecting form between living creatures and their maker. It is the outcome of our existence.
A spirit is residual energy. What is left behind from our physical existence.
