No, we should some one have such luxury when there are people dieing on the streets, kids being neglected and our economy is struggling?

People say that having a Queen brings a good tourist trade to our country, but if the country was in political upheaval people would want to come here to see the "action."
Also all the history connected to our royal background would still be available for viewing.

Yes they do allot of charity work, but hey if they just gave all the money they had away then that would be more Noble.
I don't think that people who have private chefs etc really care about the struggling of the average plebeian!

So they should get rid of the Queen, as some one who pays taxes when I'm paid peanuts i resent these "royal" dole scroungers.

Sorry... I would have gladly give my life for my Queen and Country... when I was a soldier...

I think though now after finding a few things out about our royals... taxes dodged, controversy, the parties that cost tax payers a fortune... the planes and pomp, while we have sick children, a health service in debt, homelessness, familys living below the poverty line...

I definately would not give my life for the Queen... she is on a par with Lex Luthor in my books... my country i'd die for that!

My Queen would only live a life of luxury if her subjects where...

1... secure
2... not paying for her little luxuries...

ok you can argue she brings in revenue from tourism...
but i do think our money should be put to better uses... after all she is already one of the richest women in the world... why can't she live off what they have through tourism, there many businesses...

I agree they do, do charity work... but I think the gains from the queen in tourism... are lost because...

a... do nothing for people living in the north of the British Isles, bar a few places in Scotland.

b... see for themselves so much suffering in say... a childrens ward that need modernsing... or without beds...

So until the Queen states... the £0.63p per year, per head of population (equivilent paid from our taxes). Which supports her and kids travel plans and parties... is now going to go back to the people; with virtue of...

a... a new hospital or clearing N.H.S.debt...
b... help for youth projects
c... academic qualifications (Uni's etc!) why should education cost so much for students?

oh so many useful causes that could go to... without her doing this...

I'm so sorry Queeny I can't respect the priciple of having a Queen...

Her Majesty is brilliant, because:
a) she attracts tourists, which in turn improves the economy
b) the Royal family only cost 61p per tax payer
c) she is dedicated to her duty as ruling Sovereign and head of the Church of England
d) she'd never abandon her post like her Uncle Dave/Eddie VIII
e) she's the last stand against tyranny apparently, because she can veto unsuitable laws

I suppose she could cut down on her spending, but no-one's perfect. I think that after her, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will become a republic if Charles became King. I mean, his wife is Catholic, plus they're both divorcees which provides a constitutional crisis what with his mother's uncle having to advocate 'for the love of Mrs Simpson'. Anyhow, it might prove beneficial and *cough*WeCouldGetIrelandBack*cough*.

Are you requiring answers from everyone who has her aa their Queen or do you only want English people to answer?

Speaking for the rest of the Great Britain & the Commonwealth, I can only say that English people do seem to love the Queen more than the rest of us but that doesn't mean that we are not loyal subjects.

For a start, I'm scottish, not english. I hope this doesn't preclude me from answering.
I don't believe in god, so no, I don't think she should save the Queen.
I think the monarchy's a total waste of money. Bring back the clans, I say, where the strongest/most intelligent was leader.
amen

She's the one incorruptible institution, we have. Hats off to her for remaining steadfast in duty all those years, whilst her family has been knocked and rocked by tragedy and don't get me started on media intrusion...

She is the reason I'm proud to be English. Love her? God save her?

Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour
Long may she reign
May she defend our laws
and ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen!

I am Canadian. Canada was once a part of the British Empire. Canada is still a part of the British Commonwealth of Nations though we do have are own Constitution. As for myself, I really have no use for her and her family. They are a thing of a past have nothing to do with the real world of today except give gossip columnist in papers something to write about.

Yes. Most of them are a waste of space but the queen has truly dedicated herself to her people. She's lived an honest and hard-working life and still does. But maybe she ought to be the last monarch.

The Queen can save herself, she's got enough money.
