No matter how bad your last employers may have been DO NOT say anything bad about them. This does not go down well with prospective employers!
Instead concentrate on the future, what skills you have acquired in your previous jobs, or just in life, and how they will be useful in your new job.
When they ask why you left, redundancy does not make you look bad. It tends to suggest the company was goin under. This was not your fault or responsibilty, so don't act like it was.
Sell yourself, but be realistic. Don't claim to be able to do things you can't, but make as much as possible of the things you are good at.
Dress appropriately, smile and make eye contact as soon as you walk in, most humans make their first impressions about someone within the first 3 seconds of meeting them.
Firm handshakes are good, but don't cut off their blood supply or hang on too long!
Take a second to think before you speak, it's very easy to start babbling when you're nervous.
A lot of employers will ask you to name a time you have delivered a exceptional service (ie, beyond the call of duty), a time when you have handled a particularly difficult situation, a time when you have shown good organisation skills, etc, etc. Have some answers ready for these kinda questions so ya not struggling and hesitating too long.
Hope that helps, Good luck!

When the subject comes up about your past employment the best way to answer would be to start with things you liked about the job and explain that even though you enjoyed the work and duties that you wished you where able to work more hours. This shows you enjoyed working retail and welcome as many hours as they can give. Also have in mind (and let them know) how many hours a week you would like to work. You do not need to let them know the company before lacked in training, simpley let them know that you realize every company is different and you look forward to learning how they want things done.

You get the job by being yourself. If you say what you think they want to hear, they'll know.
When asked about your past jobs, and why you left. Say I did not feel I could grow professionally and personally there, and therefore am looking for other opportunities.
Stress on the fact that you are a hard worker, and like different levels of responsibilities....this will let them know, they can turn to you for extra hours and overtime.
I hope this helps.

Tell them you left because you needed the hours.
When you interview, tell them what they want to hear. You can multitask, you like people, etc.
They will ask you, what is a bad situation you were in and how did you get out of it? Think of a story before you go in there. Don't fidget. Smile, look them in the eye. Be confident.

i can't make this clear enough . . . dress appropriately! this means NO JEANS!! i work in retail and see people coming in for interviews looking like they're shopping at the mall, not wanting to work there! enough cannot be said about looking polished and professional. black pants or suit with a nice light weight sweater or blouse. other than that be confidant and look them in the eye!

Do not drink alcohol the night before and go to bed early (even if it is FRIDAY NIGHT!!) Emphasise on your eagerness to train and self improve, read up on the company (internet is a fantastic thing!) and ask questions about the company (shows interest). GOOD LUCK!

How old are you? You could tell them you haven't had much experience working and the few jobs you have had you really didn't get that many hours w/job being phased out. Plus there aren't many jobs available in fields you do have experience in. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Be yourself firstly! Be enthusiastic, ask questions and do a little bit of research about the company. Mention you are interested in person progression too and would welcome and training of any description as its another string to your bow. Above all, try to appear confident even if you don't feel it and smile! Good luck!!
