It was one of the most wonderful books I've ever read. I was very disappointed by the sequel, which was written after Margaret Mitchell's death. But the original, Gone With The Wind, was a marvellous combination of a love story set against an historical background and gave a very un-romanticized view of the war between the states. It didn't take that long to read, because I couldn't put it down.
When the movie came out, I was of two minds about seeing it, but I'm glad I did. Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable were Scarlett and Rhett personified.

NOT at all boring. I love history and especially stories about the Civil War against which Gone Wind the Wind is set. Mitchell's characters are real and well-developed. Scarlet is a case study in self-centeredness while Rhet is one in philandering. Great book. I read it in one week, a little bit at a time.

Also, see the movie. It was made in 1939, but you would never know it!! The color, the panoramic views, the sound effects, and the acting are all quite modern.

I hope this helps.

It was a little boring in some parts but for the most part I did like it a lot. I am a slow reader and it took me about 3 weeks to read it completely.

One of my favorite books. Didn't take too long to read, maybe a total of 3 hours or so...I love the exquisite detail, and the portrayal of the civil war, and the effect that it had on the people of the south. Also, I found Scarlett to be highly entertaining, and her relationships intriguing...

I first read it when I was maybe 13 and I've read it a couple times since. I don't remember how long it took, but I didn't find it boring at all (obviously, or I wouldn't have reread it!)

I read it about 10 years ago. I don't remember how long it took me to read. I thought most of it was pretty good.
