When I was learning to swim, we did a lot of kicks to help build that lower body strength and to practice swimming.

We held on to the side of the pool, sort of like a superman pose, and then we kicked like mad.

This allowed our legs to pull up behind us so that we were floating on our stomachs while holding onto the side, thus mimicking the act of swimming but without the upper body part really doing anything.

This can also be copied by using a larger floating device, like one of those small boards that float or one of those lounge chair type of things that people float on. This will get you away from the side if you are ready to fly around the pool with your newfound lower body strength.

Hope that this helps.

I had a board the school gave us to practice on in swim team that was flat and square. You lay on it with your chest and arms on top holding onto the end w/ fingers and you do the leg portion of any type of swim style to tone up legs for more speed. Try calling some store about this type of item, I think it be a big help to get something at least similar. Hope this helps!

treding tecnique use your hands in a figure 8 motion barely under the water on the front sides of your body then use the scissor kick your body should be straight up while doing this in deeper water.

Relax, long easy strokes. Kick from the hips. For the crawl reach out and grab an imaginary volleyball and push it under you and out the side in the back. Keep your fingers together.

First you have to get rid of the fear of water. I never tried floating by I tread water. Try floaties the kick and scoop then you will get use to it.

Play soccer! that increases your leg strength or you could do squats and other leg exercises in the weight room once or twice a week.

Just remember that humans float naturally. You actually have to TRY to drown (it's true!). Just take it slow and if you can afford it, take some lessons at your local community center.
