There are two good alternatives to sprays for ants. The least toxic is to sprinkle ground cyanne pepper around the places where they are getting into your house. The ants will take this back to the nest, try to eat it, get irritated by it and look elsewhere for food. Another option is to place plastic discs containing poisioned ant bait near the places where you see them coming into the house. They crawl inside, take the bait back to the nest and die after they eat it. I have had good success using both methods. The only drawback to the cyanne method is that it doesn't actually kill the ants and they may come back to the house once the pepper is gone.

Another good thing to do is figure out what is drawing ants into the house. Look for spilled sticky liquids, food crumbs etc on the floor. Cleaning this up in addition to one of the above methods gives the longest lasting results.

Get some sugar and boric acid, mix them together, and put it where the ants are coming from, (if you find the nest), or along the trail leading into your house. They will take it back to the nest and it will kill them.

I wish you well..

Sprinkle some cayenne pepper around any points of entry.

Also, make sure that you keep your home clean & free of crumbs and other food sources. Keep pantry foods in tightly-closed containers & wipe down counters, etc.
