It depends on the type of democracy. It appears that we are under a representative democracy. This means that we elect representatives based on their credentials to make decisions for us. If we want those elected to listen to us we need to shift towards direct or deliberative democracy in which the elected official is accountable to those who elected them.

LISTEN every one..this is exactly what is happening right now and it has been this way for the past 25 years but is is getting worst...see the government and politicians think that the regular people in t his country do not know anything at all..so they do not listen to any of us...ever...
so this is why every one has to tell every one they know to tell every one they know to vote out each and every person that is in office now and get ALL new people into office for each and every election coming up for the next two years at least until we get all new people form the lowest city councilperson to the senators tot eh president...we need to make them listen to US the PEOPLE of this country....
so get out the word to make a huge change, even if you like the person in office now..they NEED to be voted out...
thank you
good luck

If your Senators or Representatives don't voice your political views, you gather enough of your friends and others, walk to the polls and vote them out.

We need to do just that with several of the people in the senate and house now.

I know that I am going to do all I can to get rid of both my senators and half of the representatives.

Because people are too lazy to vote. Why would you want to listen to anyone when there's only a fraction of people actually standing there complaining. This country has a huge problem and it starts with those lazy bums who don't vote.

Because we don't vote. With less than 50% of the voting public actually voting anymore, how are they supposed to know what is right and wrong? If we all go out and vote, and pay attention to what they do, we can take back the country and make it what we want.

Guess what, they haven't listened to the people for a long time. I wonder if it gets lonely in the ivory tower? Actually it isn't because they have so much ego to keep them company.

So go vote them out!

why is that the people dont know the meaning, how-to and techneaques of chosing a govermant anymore... the people are stuck on the idea of two leading parties, who then both get boistry and they both develope a common understanding that its them and just them... so they dont curb each other's powers, for fear of losing them when its their turn to be in power.

What other parties do you having america?
