I'm sure he is much deeper in debt than $15,000 if he owns a house. On the other hand - you both will need a house and even if he can't sell it, it's not necessarily "bad debt." The credit card issue is a worry. Obviously you have been more responsible and you two have different ideas about money. On the other hand, he has taken some risks and invested in a house. You seem to have 2 questions - about letting your career go. If he didn't have the differet ideas about money would you let it go? Are you looking at reasons to break up? Not accusing .... just cuious. Can you commute or carpool? too much money could be a problem too -- believe me. I've seen it. If you love this guy, it shouldn't matter how much $ he has. Also, if you're not in a community property state, you are not responsible for his debts even after you get married (as long as you are both not on the same credit applications).

RE:
What is a man that is engaged to be married called?
I saw in the dictionary that it says only a woman who is engaged to be married is called a fiancee. So what is a guy called?

He's TAKEN - OFF THE MARKET - and UNAVAILABLE - but seriously - a guy is also called a fiance - you just use one e - where as a woman is a fiancee - with 2 e's

He is actually the "fiance" - one accented "e" where the female is the "fiancee" (one of the "e"'s is accented as well - I think it's the first of the two but I'm not certain)
