The best show that could be adapted for the big screen, with both financial gain and creativity, is definately Arrested Development. When the show was ending, there was talk of other networks taking the show and running more new episodes, and that sounded good, until I saw the finale and realized any more episodes would probly be streching a plot to run another season. Now Fox did not cancel the show because they didn't like it, at least I hope because they air stuff half the quality of it all the time, it was purely a ratings game and plus it is a show that is better taken in order for the full comedic effect. Hopefully someone there at fox headquarters will soon realize that they can save this show, not from being cancelled, as I think the show should be over, but they could easily finance a higher budgeted, yet still formatted the same, prequel to the show. This prequel would show the Bluths in the months or years leading up to the show, and would most likely even have Michael's wife in the picture. Now by getting Jay Chandrasekhar to direct it, they would bring in a more diverse goup from the start, as he is talented, popular with youths, yet not full of himself in his talent to scare adults away. And besides that, he has directed some of the best episodes of the show, so I imagine he would want to. Mitchell Hurwitz would have to be involved as I'm sure he's half the magic of it, and to not afford him would cost the quality of the film (same goes with all of the cast). So the picture gets filmed, with a hilarious plot, ideas and characters that can be introduced but will be written to never make it to the show, yet it will lead into the show well enough. People will want to go see a movie of Arrested Development to give it a chance more than they would start renting the show, especially if they heard it was taking place before the show. Now since word of mouth and the surefire laughs-a-minute I know this movie would bring to the table would cause the DVD rentals and sales to boom, because people will realize how special it was. And that of course could lead to the syndication of the show and the eventual sequel to the show, which I'm positive if the same movie rules applied to the sequel as the prequel, would end the Bluth family in grand fashion, and cement it's place in history. Plus, it would be way shorter than a season and all at once, so it wouldn't really be cheating the show. Anyone who disagrees with me has probably not seen the show, or didnt care for it much, because this is the best and only true way for Arrested Development to have a future and the bigger respect it deserves.

The Jetsons and Jonny Quest cartoon series have been updated in new animated series and special TV movies, but no one has produced and released live action films for theaters. The Flintstones made it to theaters, Josie and the Pussycats, Scooby Doo, etc. Hanna Barbera shows have been successful on the big screen; so why not the Jetsons.
Jonny Quest would be awesome on the big screen. The animated series is high quality animation, the characters are interesting and unique, there were some great adventures, and the series had a sinister recurring villain in Dr. Sin (or Zin, I forgot the spelling). I haven't considered actors for the roles other than Everett McGill as Race Bannon( he had the look in Under Seige II with Steven Seagall) and Anjolena Jolie as Jade, but there are some that would fit them well.
Definitely two shows worthy of consideration.

Here are 3 really good ideas:
1:"The Twilight Zone"
Yeah, i know they already made a movie, but this time they should have a central storyline that included sub-plots taken directly from the shows. As for the cast, it should be filled with tons of A-Class actors portraying the characters in the sub plots ( just like the show).
2:"The Greatest American Hero"
This could be a really funny movie, especially if they decided to poke fun at all the latest super-hero movies (X-3, Superman Returns, and others). The concept of the show is great; a high school teacher is given an amazing suit with super powers, then loses the instruction manual! It would of course star a modern comedic genius such as Will Ferrel, Adam Sandler, or Mike Myers (haven't seen him in a while) or maybe even one of the Wayans brothers.
3:How about another movie based on a skit from SNL or in Living Color. I would love to see a Homie the Clown movie, starring the Wayans brothers of course. Or, even better, a Men on Film movie that tackled all the gay issues in the film industry. As, for SNL, i think they would have to reach deep in the vault to find a character funny and original enough for a major motion picture.
E-mail me your thoughts and comments!

It's not exactly "classic" per se, but it is the best TV show ever made : Buffy the Vampire Slayer!!
I would keep the original cast (Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Stewart Head, etc.) and it would be like a sequel/epilogue to the series, with the events taking place 10 years after the series finale.
If I couldn't get the original cast back together, I'd go with:
Buffy - Naomi Watts
Willow - Samantha Morton
Xander - Edward Norton
Dawn - Evan Rachel Wood
Giles - Tom Wilkinson
Faith - Julianne Moore

The BEST options would have to be... The Flash (the greatest comic hero yet to grace the big screen), "Live Action" G.I.Joe (impossible Not to be an absolute BLOCKBUSTER), McGyver, AirWolf, The Fall Guy, Magnum P.I. (already in the works), The short lived cartoon series Marshall BraveStar (also, a really cool concept), a cartoon (I can't remember the name) where the characters wore masks and had vehicles that could transform from land to sea or air vehicles (very cool , if done right), a "Live Action" Thundercats, "Live Action" Transformers (already in the works), The Land of the Lost, and as a funny adaptation... Alf.
And one sure fire blockbuster, if done right, A "GOOD" version of He-Man!!!
Also, not a classic, but one hell of a kick a** movie would be a Deadwood movie!!!
More?
Ok - The Jetsons, Space Ghost (could be a terrific movie if done in the right fashion), Johnny Quest,Speed Racer, Quantum Leap (a great concept and idea), and the Equalizer (a nice show in it's day).

I remember a great show called "Black Sheep Squadron", about navy fighter pilots in the South pacific. The leader was Greg "Pappy" Boyington, and the role was deftly played by Robert Conrad. I think it could be brought back and really done well with the special effects technology today. I think that Tom Jane (Deep Blue Sea, Punisher) could handle the role well and is the right age. The rest of the squadron could include Chris Evans (Fantastic Four) and Jake Gyllenhaal (jarhead) among others. I'd like to see Robert Forester and James Spader as navy brass if possible. These two guys are actors who really can make a movie if used right.

I would like to see The A-Team hit the big screen. I was a big fan of the show when it was first aired here in the Philippines.
I would like to suggest Tommy Lee Jones as Hannibal Smith, Ice Cube as B.A. Baracus, Brad Pitt as Face and Jim Carrey as Murdock.
Remington Steele should also be made into a movie now that Pierce Brosnan is no longer playing James Bond. Brosnan himself should reprise his role.
Airwolf should also be brought to the big screen with the same helicopter and with better special effects. I think Brandon Routh would make a good Stringfellow Hawke so that he won't be typecast as Superman.
Good thing Knight Rider is hitting the big screen. I hope they use the original KITT car.
I'm definitely watching the Miami Vice movie.
