i think its just the ability to escape from our problems. thats basically why people went to watch movies during the great depression, to get away from their problems. i think its more pyschological

Something in the movie or book that interests us triggers are brain to start dreaming of us being in the situation instead of the actor or heroine, which then triggers endophines in our brain that makes us happy.

My guess would be they affect the pleasure centers of the brain, release dopamines, something along those lines. Also, they allow us to take our minds off the things that flood our mind each day for a short time.

um, do you mean like, we're sad when we read a sad book, happy when we read a happy book? cuz scientists discovered a part of the brain in monkeys that they call the "empathy nerve," which in both mokeys and humans encourages us to feel the pain/happiness of another. it has to do with evolution; people who worked toegether in groups were better able to survive.

Our body reacts to any stimulus. A reaction, usually chemical, takes place within our brain. It's like when you fall in love, it feels like it's coming from your heart but it's actually the chemistry that your body is producing at the time, in reaction to situation you are in.

It has to do with the Mind ! Its a Great phenomenon to be able to read and associate Pictures with what you read...... It leaves a lasting memory........that your able to go over and over again....
