Warm a bit of olive oil and instill 2 drops into each ear. Over the counter antiinflamatories can be administered if needed. If the pain persists after 24 hours, go visit the pediatrician.

Here are remedies for outer ear infections which have worked for me. I am listing them in the order in which I got to know and test them. Drop these remedies directly into the ear and add some cotton batten to prevent them from running out. Rubbing alcohol or strong drinkable hard liquor. In my childhood, this was my family's favorite remedy. Wonder Oil which is a patent medicine registered in the USA. It smells as though it contains eucalyptus oil and menthol. I got to know this remedy 45 years ago, and it is still my favorite. I certainly recommend looking for it. It has other applications as well and the smell is most pleasant. A few drops of Wonder Oil will soften hard ear wax. Warm vegetable oil will do the same thing. Vitamin E straight out of a pierced capsule, a very powerful healing agent. Vitamin A straight out of a pierced capsule, a very powerful antidote for any kind of infection. You can substiture the vitamin A+D capsule. It is easier to find and much lower in price. Garlic oil straight out of a capsule. This remedy was recommended by my GP. I suspect that garlic juice would have much the same effect, but I have not tried it. Keep the ear warm with a hot water bottle or an infrared heat lamp. Good luck! Hope it gets better ;)

For future reference:
Ear oils are a traditional home remedy for ear ache.

Seal the jar with a screw on lid, and leave for ten days in sunlight. This extracts the active constituents of the home remedy for ear ache from the ingredients.
After ten days, strain the oil, through a fine mesh wire sieve, and then through clean muslin or cotton cloth. Put it into another small container, one that is preferably glass. Add 4 - 5 drops tea tree oil, or melaleuca.
Store your home remedy for ear ache with the lid on in a dark place. The maximum of this home remedy for ear ache that should be used in a child's ear is 5 drops, and the maximum for adults is 8 drops.
Serious ear problems, particularly in children, should be checked out by a specialist. The ear oil can be heated slightly in a clean spoon over a flame (candle or cigarette lighter). Make sure its not too hot when its put into the ear. This ear oil be used for earaches and clearing wax buildup.
Another home remedy for ear ache uses fresh peppermint juice. It is squeezed using a pestle to pound the peppermint lightly, before wrapping it in a clean cloth and the juice squeezed out. This juice is them used to relieve earache.

Try using your blow dryer on the ear affected. Sometimes the warmth gets things to loosen up and it doesn't hurt anymore.

My aunt used to blow smoke in my ear. Not kidding. It used to work, though. But you probably wont. Just wanted to let you know.
