You place the cap inside and then wash it in either the dishwasher or washing machine. My husband says "no" -- because baseball caps have cardboard inside the visors. But I know people who swear by them ... does it ruin the caps??

Most baseball cap bills purchased today are a plastic, and the reason you place them in the frame is to help protect their original shape anyway; so wash the cap. if it is a favorite cap that is disgusting tell hubby it would look cooler being clean and beat up than having flies buzzing around his head.

I have a great collection of baseball caps - the ones I work in require washing from time to time. We wash them on a gentle cycle along with other clothes without the plastic frame your refer to and then air dry them. True the caps may have cardboard in the visors but a few washing should do no harm.

I got one to wash my hubby's hats, they work well in the dishwasher, but you have to remove the cardboard. My spin cycle in the washer ruined a hat and I could never get the shape back or the wrinkles out of it. But, also be aware that the dishwasher soaps have bleach in them, so if you are washing a dark colored hat, put the dishwasher on the shortest cycle.

The cardboard in the visor is stitched down pretty securely, so it doesn't warp.
I've used them in my dishwasher (top rack). They work really well, with no change in shape of the cap.

it doesnt ruin the caps, I use but puttin in the washer can mess up the frames and or the washer left with marks, I wash by hand is my preference and seems to work great just dont put in the dryer, let dry eather on a line or just sat out my husband has me washin caps cons. hes in constuction,
