I am trying to make people think.
I have a long list of very good improvements and completed projects made in Iraq. I have pictures community leaders smiling and shaking hands with the soldiers and civillians who made the improvements possible... such as simple medical care that has never been avaliable or even treated water without diseases.
I have never, ever heard the American news report on it or show it. I believe the opinion would change if ALL the news was reported instead of all the bad. What do you think?
And you can't tell me it isn't happening especially if you weren't there. I've seen it with my own eyes.

The bad always draws more attention, sells more papers, gets a bigger audience.

I for one would really like to see the good news. What is being done for the Iraqis that we can be proud of, really helped them, made their life better.

I really become tired of constantly hearing how they hate us and wish we had never gotten rid of Saddam. Just give us some indication that we are not sacrificing our troops for nothing and all this means something good to the Iraqis.

Vietnam Vet - looking for some hope.

The media is so liberal, they don't want anyone to think that our being in Iraq might actually be a good thing. That's why I watch FOX News, at least I hear some of the good that's going on. Unfortunately, many Americans are fairly ignorant and love to jump on bandwagons, so I'm with you -- I think that if the media would report on the abundance of good things that are happening, the public's perception and opinion would be very different. From a grateful veteran, thanks so much for your military service...we need more Americans like you.

Like everyone else has been saying, bad news sells. I'm in the military and it's tough to see all the good things not being recognized, just because the media wants to raise their ratings. Unfortunately, this has been backfiring, and their subscriptions have been lowering over the past 5 years.

Plus, who wants to hear good news?! The media is making money every time a soldier is killed.

I wonder about that to. See I go on the internet and see sites of Iraqs demonstrating in the street carrying slogans Death to the USA Cut of their heads, and Killing of Christians is God's will

Why isn't that ever published here? Why isn't the news about this Iraq women who told her life story ever told. They are forced to wear all black cloaks because it absorbes the heat and they really suffer in those clothes. She told about female circumcisium where they held her down and scraped off any Gentile parts she had. The scream in pain, no pain killers.
They are sold to the highest bidder and their life is to their husbands pleasure. The older wives train the younger ones to please the master whem they get to old and he is tiried of them.
The number one cause of death among Iraq women is sucide.
If the American women knew how the treat women in an all muslim society they would all pick up a gun and go fight.
So you bring peace to the men in that country so they can continue to go about their muslim lives. Tortureing women and children. Wives start at 6 years old. Gee why don't we ever hear that on the 6 o clock news. When medical care is available it is to go to men and boys first. Women rarely ever see any.
So tell me again what good have you accomplished over there?

I would love to Blame the Media, As I know they are slanted far to one side, but it is hard when the sheeple of this country don't want to hear it. They want to see death and destruction. I think it appeals to their sense of humanity to watch and enjoy peoples suffering. Lets face it, How many people would rather go to a Movie about Building schools and helping people. It is sad but true even all the "feel good" movies have to have some kind of tragady put in or people wouldn't go. and the Media rides that like a cheap whore.
The very people who control the Media are the ones whom consider themselves "Humanitarian". What that means to me is that they need people to suffer so they can serve a purpose. If there was More good going on in Iraq than bad(and I know there is, thanks to you and others like you) then the Humanitarians wouldn't be needed. I've also pointed out to another, although it is not easy to point the finger at our own mistakes it is easy to point out "Americas" mistakes thus I can feel good about myself I can appear to be truly selfless. Self loathing and Failure are considered greatness by the people on the left.
Don't feel bad, no matter what the news is they put a bad slant on it (as long as you know who is in office) The other day there was an article about the Econamy and instead of saying there are more people working now than there ever has been and unemployment is the lowest it has been in years, they said Employers are worried about the future because they couldn't find enough people to fill the jobs. We know that means they are growing too fast to fill the new posisions they have created ,which is a good thing, but hey they got to make it look bad.
There are hundreds of stories like this and they are ignored. Most people don't even know the economy is the best it has ever been when you facter in the whole picture, i.e home ownership higher than it has ever been, BUT "that makes the prices higher", Unemployment is lower than it's been in years, BUT "employers cant find workers",The stock market poised to hit record highs, BUT "it may be a false hope", Our economy is groing at a huge rate, BUT " it will cause inflation" Our soldiers have Liberated 50 million people in two countries in the middle east and set them up better than they have ever lived, BUT "people died" We killed Uday and Qusay, BUT "you haven't gotten Osama or Saddam", We got Saddam, BUT "you still havn't got Abu mosaab or Osama", WE got Abu Musaab, But "it doesnt really matter does it? He's only one person" Oh, by the way, you still haven't got Osama. We Liberated Millions of people saved hundreds of thousands of lives and removed a possible place for the proliferation of terrorism and WMD's, BUT "you haven't found WMD's and that is why you went", We found WMD's BUT "they aren't "new" WMD's and It's only 500 or so and I thought you would have found them by now... this raises serious concernes about weather we let more get into the hands of terrorists by taking so long to find them.
This list could go on for ever but I can't. The questions and negativaty the Media puts forth is going to kill it. We have ways of checking the facts now and we are tired of it.
All I can say is Keep up the Good work and there are Millions of people here who know you are doing a great job (we do more than watch NBC,CNN,CBS,ABC,BBC,OPB,or read the local RAG)
Keep up the good work Thank you for your service and God Bless.
Sorry for rambeling ... I just get angry...

Bad gets more attention because of sensationalism factor.

There's alot MORE bad than good. The bad is REALLY bad and the good is not as good. Many things are worse now than with Sadaam (not defending him, so don't go there).

The progres on the good is horrible-- alot of money that was supposed to go towards rebuilding can't becuase of insurgency.

I agree tho- I would like to see much more about the good things happening.

One problem is that the insurgents watch the news. When they hear of a new school being built etc. they go and blow it up. So the good things going on in Iraq have to be kept quiet.

Maybe because we don't like spending our hard earned tax dollars to rebuild buildings and roads and sanitary facilities destroyed by our bombs. Maybe we think those dollars should be kept here and spent here. There are millions of people here that could benefit from new projects, more jobs, more training, better sanitation.
We all thank our soldiers for what they are doing but we fault our 'leaders' for their irrational decisions.

Read Ann Coulter's Treason. It describes in immense detail how the MSM(main stream media) changes around stories to satisfy their liberal views. I personally think that we are doing a great job in Iraq. If nothing else, people should at least respect the soldiers for what they are doing. DID YOU HEAR THAT CINDY SHEEHAN?!

I've seen REPEATED stories on the good things going on in Iraq --- and not on FOX faux news either. It is just that the bad tends to slap people in the face and gives them talking points while building schools and providing health care are taken for granted in our country so we tend to ignore those stories.
