OK here is my story:
I sold a product on ebay and someone bought it for $500.00, they paid through paypal. So I faithfully shipped the product out and that was that. One week later I went to my bank to make a withdrawl and my account was negative $500.
Apparently paypal went into my bank and took the funds back claiming the person who bought my product used a stolen card.

Which is really funny because the shipping address and billing address had the same address. Not to mention the card holder had the same name as the person who signed for my package.
But Ebay and PAYPAL said sorry and they can't help me. I have contacted everyone I know and I cnt get any help.I have trying to get an answer for over 6 months. So because of ebay and paypal I closed my account with them and I am fuming mad. I have sold alot on ebay and paid hundreds in their fees. This has also happened to many others.
. Ebay may seem like a great company but becareful they only care about their profits.
How SAD!

Heres another story of where we got screwed over.I went to ebay to buy software. I was looking for a used but authentic copy of Adobe After Effects. So I found one from what seemed to be a reliable seller. The ebay sellers ad said this was an original copy by Adobe. So great we bid and won the auction for $200.00.When I received the software I found out it was a homemade copy.If I wanted a pirated copy I would have pirated it myself. I contacted ebay and they said ", You need to get it verified it was fake". So I went to Comp USA Computer Store and verified indeed it was fake. I sent the letter off to ebay and they said they cannot help me. So I complained to Paypal and they also said" they could not help me. So once again I got screwed.I left negative feedback to the seller warning others about the pirated software and of coarse Ebay with all my complaints allowed this rip off seller tarnish my perfect rating. This seller also sells many pirated copies come to find out and Ebay did zero-

Wow.
Sorry that happened to you!
I was screwed on Ebay a few times, so no longer use it (yes, screwed out of $500 too, by a dirty dropshipper).

I think that Paypal needs to be looked into because they are reselling Visa and Mastercard-- which is technically illegal. Merchant accounts are for the single merchant ONLY, but probably because paypal makes them money, it's being overlooked. Ccbill and other third party payment processors also fall into that grey area, from what I undertstand.

Paypal also acts as a bank, which could be illegal (I don't know).

Ebay should probably be monitored more closely... I noticed that there is NO requirement for photographers and "producers" selling their stuff to have proof-of-model-release or other 2257 documentation. This means that you could take sick pics of your neighbor in a bathing suit, and not have to prove that she ever gave you permission (much less is over 18).... THAT concerns me (especially with all the pervy photographers and men I've known!)!!

I think people should boycott ebay and that they should use a system similiar to amazon.com- where payment is processed THRU them and if you don't provide proof of shipping within X days then the money is refunded to the customer. This would protect both parties.

I hear ya because sometimes paypal doesn't work well for you. Other times it is great. It really is hit or miss with them. Government might make it worse...leave the government out of it. They make things more complicated and when government is involved, usually they take some kind of money which will then lead to higher fees.
If you have a problem with them, I would get a lawyer if it is that bad. Or take them to small claims court.

I am very suspicious of them--I only used as a purchaser of Ebay stuff a few times (I felt uncomfortable with them having my bank info), but my husband used them as a seller as well, and they do NOT protect sellers AT ALL. Beware!

Paypal does seem like a scam! You should report it to local authorities! Explain your situation and get this out in the open!

I've had them restrict my account numerous times, keeping hundreds of dollars of MY money, until they were satisfied.

PayPal is very convenient and quick, but when getting an account, you are agreeing to their terms. Which include their right to cancel your account or fine you with NO explanation or excuse. I think that's where they really make their money!
Aside from "nickel & pennying" people to death with their charges per transaction.

If you believe (and I think you do) that you have been a victim of fraud or gross negligence by them report them to Consumer Division (it is sometimes called Consumer Affairs) of your City, as well as your State Attorney General, and the Better Business Bureau.

How you get scammed? More than likely, paypal would not take your money or your product. You probably got scammed by fraud, getting your password stolen.
