HipHop has been around too long for it to be called a fad.
Like any other genre, it too will be replaced. Young black people are creating new sounds even as vwe speak.

Do you know anything at all about music? Really, anything?

Let's analyze your lack of any sort of music knowledge:

First of all, I think to be considered a 'fad', like the hula hoop or Disco, it would have to have run it's course within 5 years or less. Rap has been building steadily since the late 70s. Hardly a 'fad', wouldn't you say?

Also you say 'like 50's rock was'. Huh? The 50's created what we know today as Rock N' Roll. Almost every single form of popular music was influenced and/or created from it. You can even hear it in today's popular country music. That's like saying the blues or jazz was a 'fad'.

You make me sad.

Hip Hop a Fad?? Where have you been since the late 70's to early eighties?? Lets see no...It is no longer able to be called a fad since it has been around since the late 70's to the early 80's. Remember Grandmaster Flash and Slick Rick?? That was early hip hop.

Hip-Hop is not a fad at all. It is a lifestyle and it is a culture. I don't think it will ever be replaced because it keeps on growing and growing and it is strong and there are many 'mini-movements' going on in it like the snap music and the hyphy movement. It will always renew itself like it has in the past with the east-coast rap, west coast, underground rap will always exist, and now it is all about the dirty south and the reaggaeton movement is very strong too. To call hip hop a fad is totally not cool at all because it is something that people are born into, not something that they feel like doing because it is what is in like when people grow up and decide to convert themselves into. If you treat it like that then it is a fad for that person because they are trying to fit in. And don't say it is just for black people because that sounds kind of racist and it is untrue because there are white rappers, and lots of latinos, and it also exists and is strong over-seas in places like Japan and China. And I think if you just you plain don't like it you will treat it as a fad, which will mean that all types of music are fads to someone who doesn't like music. Know what I'm saying? Like if I just like hip-hop, I might think pop, country, rock, punk are all fads to me.

50's rock is not dead - there is still rockabillie and today's country songs sound more like 50's rock & roll. Hip/hop or rap - it's still the same just a different name, so the name might change and the style might change a little. The difference between hip/hop or rap and disco is that disco was actually R&B, but fluff.

Hip Hop will not fade because it's part of an inner city culture that sprung up in the mid-70s. This genre has proven that "slow and steady wins the race" when it comes to public acceptance.

Since it has no qualities of music other than rhythym, it certainly isn't music. Probably a fad and a lousy one at that. Twenty years from now will you have fond memories tied to the garbage put out by Eminem, Fifty Cent, etc? Their "songs" will not have any relevance then......

lets see here, black people invented rock and roll, as soon as white people ruined it into what we call rock today, blacks abandoned it.

remember the death of black folk music, as it was ruined by whites who called it country?

black people invented hip hop, as soon as too many white rappers like k-fed get in, rap will become lame, and blacks will move on once again to something else.

remember back in the 70's when blacks started disco? they popularised bellbottoms and Afro's. back then, even whites tried to get afro's. too many whites who couldnt dance joined in, pointing into the air like suffocating fish, and the music form died right there.

Im guessing thier next move is to make a genre that is impossible for whites to dance to, or sing along to. thereby fending off any encroachment.

white people have never invented a music form, so stop complaining, you only go along with whatever is new with black youth. And that is a fact. That is why MoTown single handedly dominated all records back in the day.

If blacks like hip hop, the whole world will. Get used to it.

50's rock has not be replaced...it has expanded...been made fresh but never replaced! Ask an artist of any genre and you will find that most are inspired by 50's music, rock and roll, blues, gospel, etc....even rap artists are so inspired.
