It is possible to se it from the side if there is something to illuminate its path like dust or moisture.

there is no laser pointer that is that powerfull, a 55mw laser is pretty powerfull and would need a fan, and junction box to handle the electricity, no laser pointer could possibly house all that in a tiny little package
