I'm in the market for a new swim suit-I've never worn a speedo before because every girl I know thinks they are awful. I've never understood this-guys want to see as much details of a girl's body as possible, girls seem to prefer shorts/pants that are as baggy as possible. Any thoughts?

There definitely is a double standard. Some women should probably wear baggy shorts instead of skintight swimwear. Some guys look hot wearing very little. I think much of it has to do with the American culture of women as exhibitionists and men as voyeurs. For men to wear anything that puts them on display, they go against what the rest of culture says.
Personally, I think you should wear what you want. The right girl will either not care about your swimwear or might even really like it on you.

Speedos are just gay looking - even if the guy has the best body in the world, they look gay with a speedo on. As much as I do enjoy the male form, I would much prefer some shorts/trunks on a guy rather than some woman's underpants!!!

Always say no to Speedos. Girls don't think like guys do, and don't care to see your package. You may get a lot of looks, but it won't be the good kind. :)

Its funny how american culture shuns somethings and thinks of somethings as popular others as not. Everyone loves the Brazilian women. And american bikini's are still large compaired to there. If you go to a Beach in Brazil you see just as many guys in Sungas (speedos) as trunks. And most girls like a guy that are confidiant enuff to wear them (when they look good). Also there are many countries in europe that lots of guys use them. this is just another example of american culture being consurtive.

Hmmm..that's a good question. I usually cringe at Speedos. They are not flattering for most men, in my opinion. And we've been shell-shocked by people who shouldn't be wearing them who wear them anyway.
And also..we aren't showing our...um..."package". With a speedo, every man, woman, child and elderly person knows every detail about your package and usually it's not a pretty sight.

I grew up in Europe, so I'm used to seing speedos on men and think that if a guy isn't too flabby or too fat, they're sexy.
In the US, I sometimes think that guys are so inhibited that they have to wear these huge bloomers to hide their butts or their endowment. Tsk...

Trust me girls don't want to see as much as possible. Go with swim shorts not too long or too baggy.

Absolutely NO Speedos unless you are in Europe.
They are tacky and unnapropiate and if you are not a professional swimmer, forget it, no one likes to see it,,...

It doesn't matter how well you're built, Speedos are just downright rude looking!!! It's sexier to keep us guessing ;-)
