Why not protest sodomy instead of homosexuality? I think both are fine, but for the people who like to gay bash because they say that homosexuality is a sin because of the sodomy, why not say that straight people who sodomize are sinning too? And what about lesbians? They are homosexuals, yet, they don't commit sodomy (unless using a strap-on. lol) I don't hear very many people yelling at straight folk who sodomize but hear it constantly about gays.
This is actually a repost but I originally posted it in the religious and spirituality section. I wanted to see the "other sides" view.

I wanted to add this answer from user Nick who posted on the other question: Thanks NICK!!:
Good question, especially since not all gays engage in sodomy. Rather, there is mutual masturbation, frottage, oral, etc. But I think it's the quote about "A man shall not lie down with another man" or something to that effect that Christians are really against. What I've never understood is that religion is supposed to make someone a better person, correct? If all they're doing is using God to justify being a hate-monger, why even bother going to Church?

I think people currently think it's ok to bash gays, and that's why they do it. Because they perceive that they can. There are tons of sins in the Bible that they don't focus on, probably because they are committing them themselves. I am personally so tired of Christians (and I am one) bashing gay people. We just recently had a referendum in our state outlawing gay marriage (and we already had one on the books!). The premise for needing it was to keep the sanctity of marriage. No one seems to see the hypocrisy in preserving the sanctity of marriage against gays, when heterosexual people do so much to mess it up as it is. I think we should all try hard to get along, not judge each other, and let God sort it all out. He's the only one whose business it is anyway, and He's the only one capable of loving us, even though we're sinners (and we all are). I think the one thing these people tend to forget is that the Bible clearly states several times over that we are to love each other, and that we are not to judge.

In some religious circles, sodomy is counted as any sexual activity that doesn't produce children -- so stop having sex for fun, everyone. It's not a majority view, of course....

It's kind of the whole basis behind "love the sinner, hate the sin." And, yes, homosexuals do not have the political clout of other groups and so we are easy to pick on, and have been historically.

Many sodomy laws were repealed just enough that it was legal for heterosexuals, but not homosexuals. Then many of them were struck down, which is what led to the new push against homosexuals.

You make good sense. I don't know if that's allowed much these days....

I am against all anal sex because that is the best way to spread STDS and although I am against it personally and I think the act is disgusting I am not so militant that I am against those who enjoy it I just wont be having any relations with you that is all. I agree with you that the stink raised by anal sex needs to spill over to the hetero-side too. I am a nurse and believe me when I tell you there is no safe anal sex. Condoms break and b@reb@cking is asking for an STD. The anus is the nastiest place on the human body and no one should have any part of their anatomy there. The anus also is lined with so many capillaries and blood vessels that are just at the surface so any scratch or tear in the lining will result in immediate access to the blood stream.

i dont think protesting to sodomy is a good alternative....
some gay guys like anal sex, and discriminating against them(those who do like it) are not acceptable .its not fair for 3/4 (assuming) of the gay population to get sexual satisfaction and the other 1/4 left out in the cold. we (queers around the world) will get equal rights as a whole, not as a segment of the community. that will create more trouble in the future.... ie diving the gay community into further little sections

ANY form of discrimination is not acceptable...

Well Sodom wasn't exclusively populated by gay men...

...Queer-bashing is easier though. Once they've straightened us all out though (pun intended) have no fear, the "moral majority" will find another cause upon which to rain fire and brimstone and hell and damnation.

Another thing that gets me...I thought God gave a woman breasts so she could feed her baby, not so a man could lay his dick between then.

Fear equates hate, hate equates murder; murder equates arrogant and lies. Your question is very interesting and leads to open dialogs. Thank you!
