Thank them for the dollar amount that they gave you. It will let them know that you received it. If they were not able to attend your graduation, write how you wished they could of been there, it would of made the day all the more special. If they were there, thank them for attending and making this day all the more special. End it with thanking them for their kind and thoughtful gift and how their kindness speaks volumes.

Just say it was very generouse and you love it...etc also add how the girft helping you with it's purpose example:u get a new cook book (example) say u made some of the recepies and they're delicious!

say thanks for the financial contribution...and put a goal you were saving for or something, so they feel special about helping you.
