It could one day destroy this nation I believe. Look what is happening in Europe with all those islamics running in the streets, then when someone says what they are doing is bad-- they are racist.

I think that you're right that political correctness is a burden to a degree, it has gone too far when there's no more free speech. The problem here is that your comment is a bit short sighted by lumping all Islamics together as a 'bad' group of people. They live in a most unfortunate situation where a few give the whole group a bad name. Most of the people that follow Islam are just like you or me, trying to make ends meet, raise their children and get by in this world. It's all a very mixed up, hard task to discover who's what. Our world is very complicated indeed!

You hit it!! Political correctness has now gone from diplomacy to a crutch. No one knows how to handle criticism and no one wants to say what they really think or feel because they are afraid of offending someone. It's like people are living in a bubble! I'm not saying that one has to be rude or vulgar to another to get their point across (though it may be the only way to get someone's attention) but so what if someone's feelings get hurt! Let them deal with it! And if you are the one getting your feelings hurt then get a thicker skin! Why are you letting other people have the power to dictate your feelings? Why do you care so much about what other people think? Is it because you have some insecurities and need other people to validate you? People have become so sensitive and narrow minded that any and every thing offends them. The world is filled with people of different cultures, philosophies, and customs. Those differences are bound to clash!! SO WHAT!!

Islamics running in the streets doing bad things? When PEOPLE do bad things they're bad PEOPLE. Nobody called Americans bad after the Oklahoma bombings. The 2 people who perpetrated that act were bad PEOPLE, just the 2 of them not everybody in this country. Political Correctness is necessary.

PC isn't needed if you have a society where good manners is a priority.

I believe we tried to replace manners by compensating for every slight that ever happened in history.

I think people are too easily offended nowadays and whining has become accepted.

Let's just work on our manners and try to assume people's best intentions by not becoming insulted when they don't understand how we feel.

It's ok to be honest but not to attack people when they don't automatically understand what it is like to be in our unique shoes.

Yeah, I think it goes too far any time PC makes a person afraid to speak their mind. We shouldn't sacrifice free speech for fear of offending someone. Voltaire had it right: "I might not agree with what you have to say, but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it." On that principle, laws banning hate speech are wrong too, even though that stuff is disgusting.

I agree, if everyone would just shut up and learn to be better, humane people the term "political correctness" wouldn't exist. Sometimes I think people are just looking for attention.

in some ways it is.... its like anything.... to protect some people they must cater to others... though there should be exceptions... and common sense.... such as in the example you gave... that's not racism to round them up when they are doing damage and hurting people , that's protecting others, property , and a way of life which any society is entitled too.people need to use common sense and not worry so much what others ( liberals etc.)will think... do what is best for the majority instead of letting these zealots run them...

Ugh, I hate political correctness. I'm not racist, or sexist, or whatever-ist, but it's so annoying having to watch what you say to avoid being thought of that way. If I say "he" or "him" when speaking in generalities, I mean it in a neutral-gender way, not neccesarily a guy. I actually have to think about it to say "he or she." And if I call someone "black", it's not because I'm against them or denying their heritige or anything, it's just 6 sylabals shorter than saying "African American" for every casual reference. I couldn't care less when people say "white" instead of "Caucasion," why should people flip out because I say "black" in a casual conversation? All my friends who are "African American" don't care at all. It just annoys me when people flip out on something so trivial. Work on people's attitudes instead of their terminology.

Sorry I ranted on that; it's one of my pet peeves. :)
