Dreamt it was a clear moonlight night, was going down to the beach for a paddle. From the shoreline the water suddenly got really deep and I could see shadows close to the beach. They looked like alligators or Aliens from the Sigourney Weaver films. It looked very ominous.

I wasnt afraid, was kind of curious. Kind of like if you were alone in an isolated spot and saw a light in the sky and had no idea what it was before it started moving towards you. That kind of feeling (best metaphor I could come up with - sorry!)

Any ideas?

Sounds like you want a new challenge, preferable something you haven't tried before.

either that or you want to watch an aliens movie.

Its over-exposure to sf cliches, which you recognise yourself in your choice of language. Avoid that kind of flim (particularly the old ones like Alien or Close Encounters) and you will soon be back to dreaming of falling or swiming or drowning. Did you think you were Sigourney Weaver? That would be worrying.

Water in dreams is your emotional side and the fear of being out of your depth. That the water was deep at the shoreline, plus being occupied with unknown preditors, shows an unconcious fear of quickly losing control of a situation and being unable to re-tract yourself from it. That you were curious, not fearful, means it isn't imminent. Isolate your hidden fear and this kind of dream will go away.
