I have the advance, SP, and the DS. My all time favourite is the SP. It's easier to handle and control.

Nintendo DS is best it has the touch screen and all. It is really nice. The DS does have very small game catridges though so you may not want to have to try keeping up with those. The Gameboy SP may be your best bet. Both are actually nice little systems for kids to tote around.

For a 6 year old i would get the gameboy but as if you get the ds for him it would be more usefull because it is more advanced and it keeps advancing and he'll most likely want better graphics as to the gameboy doesnt have the best graphics or game selection.

Nintendo DS Lite definately, but it is like 129.99. The GBA may be better suited for your 6 year old. My 5 year old has both, but likes the DS better.

The advance SP is better. It's not as complicated as the DS. DS always pissed me off, and i lost the little game cartridges all the time.

*edit* yeah,get teh ds lite bundle pack with the new super mario bros (ds lite is a improved version of the ds)

ds. cause lots of ds games make good use of the touch screen and makes the gameplay a lot interesting than just pressing buttons...not that pressing buttons isint fun ,heck i do it all the time lol
