Probably because both of those things can cause violent side affects when mixed with that medication. Ask your pharmacist to be sure.

I know you definitely cannot have grapefruit. I drink moderately (wine and beer occasionally) and my cardiologist said that was fine. The issue is that the drug affects your liver and if you drink a lot of alcohol it processes through your liver and it makes it work a lot harder than it needs to....

I have read that both alcohol and grapefruit are to be avoided while taking that madication.
