I was in the same predicament this past year. I was a makeup student in Montreal. I had just moved here and had no one. I know it's hard to ask strangers and a bit embarassing. But here are a few suggestions. I usually asked people at school. I would go up to them look them in the eye and say (yes i know it's corny but it did work you just have to be a bit ballsy) wow oh my gosh you have great eyes, cheek bones, lips etc. I would love to use you in my exam for my class you would be perfect for it. You can also post flyers around your school saying models wanted etc. If your boyfriend or you have a job you can also ask somebody that you work with. I always found it helped when i was asking people that i looked them in the eyes, smile and really captured there attention with a compliment. The one thing i have really learned from moving to a new place and not knowing anyone and being in a tough industry like this is just to be ballsy. So they say no. That is the worst thing they can say to you. I am a relatively shy person but you know it made me come out of my shell and now i am more confident than ever. My teacher also told me if i wanted to be a part of the industry this is what i would have to be doing. Interacting with people that you don't know will be part of your job. Good luck with everything and don't be affraid you just got to break out of that shell and go for it. Somebody will say yes! Oh and just make sure if they say yes you get all their contact info and tell them if they have to cancel for some reason to call you at least 24hrs. before. You should also call them 3 days before to remind them and the night before. Good Luck!!

There has to be another student in Vancouver that would be your model. How about a roomate? There are lots of girls that will be totally into this. Try posting something on your bulletin board at school.

maybe you could put an ad in the newspaper asking for models.... then give them an "interview" to narrow it down. Tell them it'd be a free makeover :] I know for a fact that someone will respond because I did the same in my area for a book that I'm writing.

well why not go to a department store and ask if someone who works in the makeup section would be willing...if not, then do you go to any restaurants or other stores where you mite have talked to someone and feel free to ask them? also, you could offer to give someone a little money to do this since it is taking their time and effort to do it...good luck...also, maybe the school mite have someone, another teacher or a friend of theirs who could do it...
