Maybe there's not enough money involved.

i don't know too much about the world cup or the wbc but i do know that a big problem with the world cup is most people in america just don't care about soccer. maybe they're not getting enough support or something...i don't know.
but with the olympics...what are you talking about? the u.s. wins medal counts every year of the olympics. always summer winner, sometimes winter winner. the basketball team was really shitty in 04 b/c all the guys on the team were cocky *** holes...and with hockey, america has never been known as the best in hockey so i don't know why you were so shocked about that!...? what about such sports as snowboarding? swimming? and other sports where the u.s. does well most years?
...i'm just really confused as to why you would think the u.s. chockes on an internaion level when we don't. every country has hard breaks and that happens so what's the big deal if we don't win EVERY international thing that happens??

To answer your three questions;
FIFA Men's World Cup - Soccer in the United States is not well known as oppose to teams such as Germany, Brazil, and Italy.
World Baseball Classic - Although Baseball is a popular sport in the United States and the US had home field advantage, the
US had to compete with baseball players from all the world and the US qualified to the Semi-Finals
Olympics - I too was shocked that the US did not win the Gold Medal since they won the Gold Medial from 1992 to 2000 Summer Olympic Games and for the United States Olympic Hockey Team, most of the NHL Players come from Canada, Russia, and Europe and not a lot of players come from the United States.

World Cup - Who cares? The sport is boring and the best athletes can make a lot more money in other sports
WBC - Hardly our best team or athletes. Plus a team has to play together for more than a few weeks to be a team
Olympics - Same issues as above
Yet we win more golds and more medals and make more $$$$$$ than the athletes of any other nation.....

Hmmm ... well, if you don't count events in swimming, track & field, wrestling, boxing, volleyball, etc. ... I couldn't answer your question.
The USA, during the Summer Olympics, is usually the medal count leader. In recent Winter Olympics, the same can also be said.
Just because the US has a few bad outings, they do not choke on the international level every single time.

i won't have the ability to work out it happening. As Spidey reported, the pastime is extra approximately means than well-being although maybe the quicks could be extra heavily monitored. Cricket, soccer and rugby appear as if being the sparkling skins on the 2d with all the detrimental exposure on the NRL and the AFL. Edit @ 0.5 Drawn Boy, they have been savouring the Alice B Toklas truffles.

It happens. Some of the sports are because we don't have the strongest players (World Cup, Hockey) and some of it is chance.

The simplest answer that I can give you is that the rules by which Americans play is different from the rules by which other countries play. America has to be different in nearly everything that it does - including sports.

USA is not really known for soccer tho is it? Basically I think soccer is not quite our cup of tea. Maybe there isn't enough money in it yet to motivate the players. Not sure.

Because most of our athlete's are concerned about the money aspect of the sport rather than "love of the game".
That's just my opinion and probably really doesn't answer your question, but whatever.
