Depends where you live. If you live in the city, there are people of all ages in college. I live in a city and went to a 4 year college and it was no big deal seeing a 50 year old or 60 sitting next to me in class. It was the 80 year olds that astounded me. To younger students seeing much older classmates can be very inspiring. To witness their drive, whether they are there to get a degree or audit a class its good to see older people having a desire to keep learning and get ahead. So don't be self concious even if you are the oldest in a classroom full of young students because your not only helping yourself but ur also helping others by inspiring them and imparting your wisdom you have gained in the school of life.

Take the classes you want/need, from the school you want to attend, and don't worry too much about fitting into the class. If it's something you're self-conscious about, consider taking a semester of DDP (online) courses through the school (most offer them these days) to get to know the professors first.
Speaking from personal experience, I'm a 21 year old senior in college and have experience working with older students - like yourself, usually, returning to class - in some of my classes. I really enjoy having the extra 'diversity' when it comes to class discussions and group projects. You'll make some new friends and have a great time!

I am 58 years old and in college programs. Perhaps you want to persue adult continuing education classes if you feel out of place. However, you are never too old to learn and I have never felt out of place and have made some really nice friends in school that are much younger. Go for it.

If you're referring to a college classroom, which I assume you are, don't worry about fitting in. There are many non-traditional (older) students that attend college.

If your trying to go back to college, that is easy, just go to community college, you won't be the oldest, especially if you go at night.
