Ok, have you looked at yourself from the view of someone else? We Americans enjoy all sorts of freedom and liberties that many people in other countries simply don't have. We produce more food per year than we can possibly eat, but there are people around the world starving to death. We consume over half of the world's fossil fuels, yet we're what, 1/16th of the global population. We're self-righteous and tell other countries what they're doing wrong, yet we don't do anything about our own social problems (the homeless, the poor, drugs, etc.). We invade a sovereign nation on a freakin' whim, overthrow a government and lie to the international community about why we're doing it, and we just expect everyone in the world to love us?
Don't get me wrong, I'm proud to be an American, but just assuming that people hate us because we're the "Top Dog" is nonsense!

look man let me let you in on a little history, in the 1980's the u.s. gave and trained the Salvadorian army to kill helpless innocent people. We gained from that war because we sold guns to both sides. The whole Vietnam war, we had stuck our heads in to someone else's civil war and killed millions of innocent people. and today we trained and gave funds and guns to the bin laden and look what they did they played us for some fools and blew us up. we have funded so many wars and built so many jails we only invest in the failure of mankind and you wonder why people hate this country. It's not a new thing its' just that now since our redneck president has gotten us into even more trouble and has run the country into the ground we are starting to realize what we've been doing cause of all the little people that are pointing their fingers at us. Don't' get me wrong i love my country i was born in San bernardino and i sang the pledge of allegiance everyday in elementary. I wouldn't be in any other country but you have to face it, people don't' like us cause all we do is open back doors and try to spoil other people who we feel threatened by. were in the wrong. sorry man

to answer your "question" I am an American and I do not believe we are the "Top Dog". A country that would meet my specifications of "top dog" would be a country that is at peace with itself, as well as other nations, a country that understands and practices more responsible resource management, a country that understands the health concerns of eating mostly fat and meat all day, and mostly, to me, a country that has a leader who was actually elected by the people (the popular vote). the US is by no means the top dog, and not everyone hates top dog: the top dog is respected for its wisdom. :)

Hello..I am not Anti-American and it's very superficial to be generalized for a whole nation or country hated. Those who are willing to paint all Americans with wide brush are mostly ignorent and narrow-minded. I live overseas and my country has perfect relations with USA,but I will not hide that I disapprove much of the policy of superiority and prevail after all.We must be tolerant and good to each other,no matter our nationality, country etc.

The USA having terrible public services, rampant gun crime and domestic violence. A huge race and homophobia problem, severely stupid tax system. Is needlessly in debt, orchastrates world poverty by subsidising fat farmers to grow useless crops in huge abundance. Not very top dog. You also voted Bush in twice and Arnie. Your political system is rightly seen as somewhat of a joke in more liberal demoracies.
Ps, I quite like a lot of Americans, just the ones like you I can't abide
