Make sure if your card is DirectX 9.0 or DirectX 10.0 compatible.
I have had issues with lack of documentation on which it was compatible with and I installed DirectX 10 and it wouldnt work.
If it is directX 10.0, you still should be able to use it under 9.0 but the reverse is not true.

Also, if you do a complete removal and reinstall of the video drivers, make sure you remove them ALL! If you dont get them all, the problem may still persist.
See if the ATI website has a driver removal tool and use it step by step with their instructions!

So basically, it happens all the time. Try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them. Maybe, get rid of the Catalyst control center and use only the drivers, sometimes that is the problem. If not, I'm afraid it would have to be a hardware problem and may not be related to the graphics card at all. It could be bad memory, bad motherboard, power supply, processor and so on. Basically anything in the system could be the culprit. If it only happened playing games, then yeah, it'd be the card since that is not the case, it could be just about anything in the system.

sure you could, as you will see that from the image card internet site, in case you seek for "standards" it is going to inform you what processor you like with the intention to run it. and pentium 4 is listed
