I am used to cooking my own food.I know where it comes from and how it is prepared.I am the cleanest person I know!! When it comes to dining out,I am paranoid because people do aweful things when working in diners and restaraunts. It is bad to think that people are so evil but its true. They get in bad moods and take it out on whoever. Then again, they juist do it for fun sometimes, like spitting, dropping food, putting other stuff that doesn't belong in food. What can you suggest when your loved ones and friends want to take you out or just eat out for a while.

the best advice i could give you is, keep the places you go to limited, be a regular and get to know the people that work there, that way they usually cater to you and they will put more care into what you order. stay away from hole in the wall resteraunts and just to be honost stay away from fast food, the workers there get paid little or nothing and i am sure it would not take much, for one of them to go off the deep end. just pick your resterraunts carefully

Well.....not every restaurants do this. And I think only if you get the restaurant staff annoyed or if it is an extremely busy day that this would ever happen. Restaurants usually want to please custemers not drive them away. I suggest you find a respectable place to dine. Usually start with someplace that is clean and that the servers are friendly. Three, four and five star restuarants are usually the kind of restuarants that do not do what you fear most since there are trained chefs with a degree and a trained staff that are there to respect food and appreciate it not only as a food but art, I don't think an artist would want to disgrace their creation by spitting on it, chefs are trained better than that. If you have the food network or you can got to their website they have inside scoop on many restaurants since they have access to the kitchen.
Also try local restaurants in your area that are independent yet respectable. That is the whole point of a food critic. Just remember if the restaurant is clean and the bathrooms are clean than you know your food is okay.

I feel your suffering.I have been a server over 10 years...& I will not eat out or take out..EVER I have seen way to much ....& yes everywhere & every server (a least one time) has done something evil to a customer's food even I have more then once. So I always cook & make a big deal about eating out & tell some stories about things I have seen & after 30 min into the stories usually everyone like's the idea of home cooked food much better...Or putt the movie" Wating "on nobody wants to eat out after the salad scene!

We have amazing immune systems and have lived more "organically" throughout humanity until last century. If I would you I would order some wine. It will kill any germs you are about to encounter and loosen you up to where you'll be more in the moment with your friends and not thinking about bugs. We gotta get right down into the grit sometimes to remember how alive we are. Good Luck.

Sounds like you may have some obsessions with cleanliness. Have you talked with anyone else about this? If these feelings are really preventing you from eating in restaurants you may be suffering from OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) which is where certain thoughts prevent you from having a normal life. You may want to seek some counsel.

You can't avoid going out forever. It really will do you some good to go have a meal with your friends and family. Why don't you stick to something like a salad? You could eat it with your hands and inspect each piece of food before putting it in your mouth? I do hope you go, you'll learn to relax and enjoy your time together.

Stop it. Stop your paranoia and get over it. Just relax and eat. Most restaurants have good people who are honest and do their best to serve food they'd eat themselves.
