I woke up and ate breakfast. i didn't check my turtles yet. I went to go wash my hair and when i was done i looked at all my turtles and that one was floating. I picked it up and it didn't get scared as usual. Eventually i knew she was dead. But before i went to sleep it was in perfect condition. it's a red eared slider. I think becasue of the weather of 100 degrees and more. Is that the problem?

If the water is too warm and you don't have a good filter bacteria will grow in the water and it will make your turtles sick!. At the pet store you can get drops to kill the bacteria and that should help. I'm really sorry about your turtle, I would find a nice place in your yard and put her in a little box and put her to rest....
Also, you can mark the spot where you put the turtle with a flowering plant so every summer you will get a sweet reminder to check the water.

it may have been the heat. but did you think about how old it was when you got it? Some turtles can live at the breeders or petstore for a very long time before you bring it home. It may have also been sick. I'm sorry that you lost your turtle. I hope you and #2 have a happy life.

just bury the poor thing. Have a little funeral. Yes, that temp is too high. Put a twelve ounce water bottle that is frozen in the tank to help cool it. Watch that temp. so it don't get that warm again. Also watch that bacteria when the water temp is that high. Wash you hands well and use hand sanatizer.

If the water becomes more than 95 degrees or so it will paralyze them and then they drown. I keep my sliders in about 85 degree water, with a stainless steel heater. One I have had for about 27 years.

I don't know if you do this, but make sure your turtle's aquarium or whatever they live in isn't near the window where the sun could possibly heat its home up.
