Some big topics in animal agriculture right now are bird flu, mad cow disease, and National Animal ID System (NAIS.) NAIS would be a good one to do a report on. Here is a website on it.

Maybe you need to do something on some topics involving animals that are in the media right now. Like the canine or avian flu and the effect it has on the human population. Or perhaps the alternative vet medicine industry. try doing some research on the statistics involving the illness rates of a certain breeds. If you want any more ideas, feel free to contact me.

A few things -

'to vaccinate or not to vaccinate' - comparison of views of people who vaccinate for everything and those who don't believe in putting 'poisons' in their animals - antibody levels in some requiring extensive rabies shots shows annual vaccination is NOT required medically but is required legally...there's a lot of ways this could go if you research it

animal research - good and bad: many want to ban all animal research and hold up horrible looking pictures as proof it's needed - but many GOOD things happen for research - animals are living longer, skin grafts are possible because of animal research, veterinary procedures to save animals and testing animal products (food etc) are all ways animal testing is not cruel and benefits animals too.

alternative medicines/therapies - the use of chiropractic, acupuncture, massage and other things in addition to or instead of traditional veterinary/drug therapy

These are just a few ideas with a lot of ways to narrow it down and get good information!
Good luck
