It's the right choice. He is not even close to the level of play at the World Cup, he isn't even one of the better MLS players. Also he has always said he was going to play for the US anyways, so it's really no big surprise. He will probably be ready for South Africa in 2010, especially when he signs with a better team in a better league, since he can now join the European leagues having just turned 17.
Also he played in a World Cup warm up match with the US so therefore he is only eligible to play for the US, despite being a citizen in both countries.

Freddy Adu is really the only reason i care about U.S. soccer. I'm surprised he didn't take the offer. He said he wanted to play for the United States. I would say that if he is not on the American team in the next world cup, then he will be playing for ghana.

He probably qualifies for the Ghana team even if a US citizen...cause he is still a citizen of Ghana by birth. Dual citizenship.

Ghana wanted him for the world cup trials but he opted to trial for USA instead and was not picked!

Some people say he's too young, I guess he kind of is, but I think he should have taken it just to get the experience so that when the US asks him for a spot he'll be prepared.

He wouldn't have played on that team, either. He's still too young, inexperienced, and small.
