I always regret something for a long while, quite intensely, and it tears me up inside. But after a while I realise - all the bad things that happen, and mistakes I make just teach me something, and I change and improve. Regretting things is an utter waste of energy, because everything you've ever done makes you who you are. The only thing you should regret is hurting someone. Everything else is part of your story.

I don't believe in regrets. I have some things that if I could re-do them, I would do differently, for sure. But all in all I think every experience we have shapes us into the person we are today and who we'll become later in life. I also believe everything happens for a reason.

It's far better to regret the things you have done than to regret the things you haven't.

Two regrets:

1. Not standing up for causes I believed in, including myself. I should have kicked in a few more doors (metaphorically).

2. Not treating some people as well as I should have. I haven't always respected others' viewpoints and dreams and aspirations and for that I still kick myself.

Dear asker
Iwill share this with you not for the sake of points but because I have never been able to share this with anyone.
I could not meet my dying brother in his last days, just because I was not well myself.Being in class eighth at that point I pledged before his funeral pyre to score a great percentage in my national exams and pay a homage to him as he had guided me a lot , but I could never achieve my goal and I will regret this all my life .

If some one tells you that they don't have any regrets then they are lying. I have done somethings that were very stupid and I am going to be "paying" for them for a long long time

Yes it makes me so sad to think about it, but here goes any way. It was xmas eve 2years ago, I had been looking after my mum who had been seriously ill about four years ago. I was tired and needed a break I had done all the xmas shopping and cleaned all of the house and I really was tired. I said to my husband , to " I am worn out I really could do with a rest from my mum, you know let one of my 5 siblings take her for just a couple of days., I just want a little bit of r&r. ". He said that my siblings should at least offer. Come xmas day my mum looked pale and spent the day in bed, She went into hospital on boxing day in the morning and died in the afternoon with me at her side. I miss her so much, and I just wish with all my heart I hadn't said I needed a rest. It haunts me........
