Diarrhea caused by viral illnesses (the most common kind) should not be treated directly. By this I mean that you shouldn't try to stop the diarrhea itself, you just need to make sure the child maintains hydration status by taking in lots of fluids (like pedialyte). If there is blood or mucus in the stool it could be caused by bacteria or parasitic infection which needs to be treated with medication.

The natural foods I would use to stop diarrhea are cheese and bananas. The problem is not the diarrhea. Diarrhea is ridding the body of toxins in a natural way. The problem is the possibility of dehydration. So, feed your sweetheart and give him/her plenty of fluids. Lower fever with children's Tylenol.
You need to take your child to the doctor if fever cannot be lowered and is consistently high and/or the diarrhea does not stop within 48 hours ; that might suggest a bacterial infection which would require medication. Good luck.

You dont want to stop the diarrhea, it's the bodies natural way of expelling harmful bacteria, esp. in a child that young. Is there a fever too?
How long has the kid had it? If it's been some time and it's just somewhat annoying now,
Give yogurt, no other dairy, no sugary drinks, and pedialyte helps somewhat. But yogurt is the best, it will calm the GI tract, with yeast as it's best ingredient. Whole yogurt is best, if the kid will eat it though.

As a general rule of thumb, toddlers should not be given herbal remedies. Diarrhea can quickly become a very dangerous even life threatening illness. For children, diarrhea should only be treated based on the advice of a medical professional.

If there is even a tiny amount of blood or mucous in the stools, seek emergency medical treatment.

You're puzzled and disappointed when a mere toddler throws a toy? Sigh. You sound like a prime example of a mother who never should have been allowed to take an innocent newborn home from the hospital. Get help - now. Stop blaming your baby on your shortcomings. You clearly need therapy, parenting classes, and to pick up a few child development books. If at all possible, find someone to keep your child until you clean up your act. You are currently unfit to raise a child, and you need to do something about it. For the sake of that poor little boy, please don't hesitate to get help and shape up.

If the child has diarrhea, I would take them to the doctors and find out what is wrong, there could be something a little more serious going on.

He should be checked by a doctor. My son had chronic diarrhea and the doctors treated him for a bowel infection for 2 months. I finally had allergy tests done and he was actually allergic to milk. He should get pediolyte and plenty of fluids so he doesn't get dehydrated . Food based fluids such as rice water, yoghurt like drinks, homemade soups etc. should be given.

You don't really want to stop the diarrhea. Diarrhea is the way a body gets rid of a virus. Instead try the B.R.A.T diet. (bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast) for a day. If it continues tomorrow, you may want to see a dr.

Before there was pedialyte, the doctors would have you to use the water off boiled rice. No dairy products and make sure that you wash your hands often whenever you changed the child.Might be old fashioned but hey it works
